In a ceremony filled with both tradition and pride, the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Command and Staff College in Salima yesterday the 5th December, 2025 awarded the prestigious Passed Staff College (psc) certificates to its 4th Cohort of Senior Officers. Msilikali SACCO attended the event, supporting and witnessing the end of a demanding year of advanced military training.
The ceremony was led by the Minister of Defence, Honorable Chimwemwe Chipungu, MP, who represented His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi. Malawi Defence Force Deputy Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Kondwani Gift Kalino was also in attendance together with other Senior government officials and military representatives from allied countries.
In his keynote address, Minister Chipungu explicitly linked the diverse cohort to Malawi’s strategic defense vision. “I am pleased to note the presence of Senior Officers from other allied countries within the continent. This shows that Malawi values the partnerships we share with our African brothers and sisters. I urge you, therefore, to strengthen these military ties, enhance our operations, facilitate joint training, and promote intelligence sharing, as this will solidify regional security ” He stated.
For Msilikali SACCO, whose membership includes serving defence personnel, the event was a significant opportunity to celebrate the academic achievements of its community and an engagement platform with the military leadership.
