Msilikali SACCO (MSACCO) an afiliate of Malawi Union of Savings & Credit Cooperatives Ltd (MUSCCO), is a member owned and democratically controlled financial cooperative society that aims at providing quality and affordable financial services to its members; drawn from the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and other Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Therefore, Msilikali SACCO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following position tenable at its Head Office and branches
Loan Officer – Zomba & Monkey Bay
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Officers shall be responsible for all matters relating to loan application & appraisal process, credit administration, loan repayments and recoveries.
Duties and Responsiblities
Interview loan applicants, obtain all of the necessary documentation to make the loan decision
- Review and analysis of business loans.
- Properly secure the collateral used to qualify for the loan, and approve the loan.
- Provide information to the membership concerning the different types of loans offered, the terms and interest rates, and the documentation needed to be considered for a loan
- Make loan decisions in a timely fashion to meet member needs.
- Grant loans according to SACCO policy and procedures and in compliance with laws
- Provide financial counseling to members in the wise use of credit
- Refer all borrower requests for loan extensions, refinances, or any changes to original loan terms to the Supervisor
- Make suggestions to the manager concerning changes to the lending policy and/or procedures.
- Ensure loan delinquency is managed to required levels
- Prepare month loan report to management
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Administration / Banking and Finance, Marketing from a recognized University with 3 years’ experience.
- Those with Diploma with 5 years’ experience
- Understanding of SACCO or Financial Cooperative business model
- Knowledge of Fin-Financials Core banking system or any banking system
- Great interpersonal skills and customer service.
- Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities
